Our magazine enters its third year with this issue. That’s right – it is already two years ago that you held our very first magazine in your hands, if you are one of the lucky few. We printed only 100 copies.
In this issue, we investigate the shadows of the “shadow”. We look at the trashy side of Kinbaku. We all want to be too shiny, too perfect. We talk about the ephemeral beauty of the shadows but exhibit our Kinbaku with vanity.
But – shush – we need to tell you a secret. Come closer, listen carefully: we all fail. We, the authors of this magazine, fail, too. Far too often we fail and try hard to sweep it under the carpet.
In this magazine, we speak openly about our own failures, our trashy beginnings, the mistakes we made, the things that went wrong. We do it because we believe that this is the true beauty of what we are doing – the imperfections that make “it” alive. The fact that we all are human beings.
And so, we fail…
We do not point fingers, at least not at others. We just honestly tell our stories. And we hope to tell them with some humor. If at all, we point fingers at ourselves. We speak about our fears, our insecurities – as riggers and as models.
Because all too often, we are running in a hamster wheel. And we try, and we try, and we can’t find perfection, can’t find satisfaction. Maybe, just maybe, this is because we have the wrong standards, wanting to achieve something that is only an illusion – called Instagram.
It is the deviation from perfection that makes a starting point for creation.
And so it goes, we create something out of these failures. Something trashy, consciously imperfect, absurd, and hilarious.
For the first time, we feature a renowned artist from outside the Kinbaku scene: Hans Petri has his own view on Kink, BDSM – a view he shares with us in an interview.
Also, we feature 6 winning photos from a telegram group competition aiming to “Make Shibari Dirty Again” – a cause we all wholeheartedly support.
Whilst we were working on this issue, the nights became chilly in Berlin and the leaves turned yellow, orange, red before they fell, leaving the trees bleak. Now the city is greyish, foggy – cold.
